Good morning poetry hounds!
I’m pleased and excited to feature the latest submission from K. W. Bunyap, for your VerseDay pleasure. K.W. is an avid hunter and fly fisherman. He’s an airline pilot by day and a novelist by night, creating beauty with images and words to balance out both sides of his beautiful brain. Today, K. W. will be wowing you with a poem that settles into a special corner of my heart and it’s love of Autumn. Enjoy!
I watched the aspens turn today
And witnessed nature’s majesty.
Orange and gold replaced the leaves
Of green, and leapt from tree to tree.
The rising sun poked shafts of light
Down through an emerald canopy.
I lay beneath those dark scarred trunks
Of white, and lounged in reverie.
I watched the colors of autumn
Slowly replace where green should be.
The hues revealed the steady march
Of time, no more a mystery.
Deep in that secret mountain glade
The pigments were a potpourri.
Above, I heard a rustling sound
Of leaves, and something stirred in me.
The leaves were changing, Fall was here,
I felt the warmth of Summer flee.
Watching the aspens turn, I thought
Of love, and gave my heart to thee.
A belated Valentine’s verse.
She is small, but fiercely sensual. Enjoy.
Mirror me the methods of seduction
from centuries long past
The age of human desire, shifts and sways
yet it’s lustful stripes remain unchanged.
What words stole breath,
What visceral aches prevaded?
How did Romulus lay the captive Sabine lover?
How Andromeda on rocky outcrop chained?
How beckon come hither, Aphrodite? With such plentiful bounty?
To set the trap,
What sweet bait
Ensnared the lover to tumultuous beast
What hook begat line,
Sinking knees, penitent, to ground.
Tender tongues and trembling thighs
Shiver of universal pulse,
How does the mere mortal set tap to your celestial vein?
By what rounded needle do we spread the skin?
And draw out the life of love incarnate?
Happy Early VerseDay, my lovelies.
Normally I would do this tomorrow, but my days have been very scattered this week.
This one kind of came out of nowhere, but…it’s a lip bite and a coy look over shoulder. Share it with someone you love. (and I’m not talkin’ about your mom)
Desire laced and wrapped
around my underfed neurons,
Where every shimmering shiver of anticipation
Swells the wave.
Way back to the dark corners, where thoughts are safe to roam.
Where you lay,
Reposed and calm, but for your heart.
Rolling thunder of hooves against Earth
Nerves and skin, sweat and breath,
Saturated in the quickening of time,
That it will come,
